Often we dress the same way too, adding lush knits and soft layers to bundle up. But with all that dim light this time of year, do you find yourself suffering from that “Seasonal Whatever it is Disorder” that seems to strike so many nowadays, or at least is “recognized” for its impact on our health and energy?
Let’s look to what’s flattering and fresh in fashion. Ever notice how chic and smart a woman looks come winter, whether on the slopes or downtown on the street, dressed head to toe in lighter tones that give her face a gorgeous glow? See how major fashion houses offer corduroy pants in white and wool coats in cream? Then take it to your home and go counterintuitive this winter: Start stripping!
- Remove outdoor awnings and let more light in your home.
- Replace heavy curtains with crisp -looking roller shades. Places like Smith+Noble offer excellent insulated ones that will keep the room warm while giving it a crisp and bright aesthetic.
- Dress the bed with layers and layers of white, cream and soft-grey bedding. Go for flannel for warmth but lighten up your palette with tones that’ll bounce and not absorb light.
